RAILWAY ELECTRICAL & OUTFITTING SPECIALIST

Powering the rails with certainty. Driving everyday life toward the future. Founded in 1992 in Yokohama, supporting Japan’s railway vehicles for more than three decades.

INANOGUMI is a team of craftspeople handling the electrical outfitting, interior work and piping of new railway cars — along with modification and maintenance, and electrical outfitting in shipbuilding. With 124 staff across four nationwide bases (Yokohama, Higashi-Osaka, Niigata), we work alongside Japan's leading rolling-stock makers — J-TREC, Kinki Sharyo, Kawasaki Railcar, Niigata Transys — keeping society's arteries moving, from Shinkansen to limited express and commuter trains.

PHILOSOPHY

Refining our craft.
Developing people.
Connecting the infrastructure
that supports society.

"A single wire
can set millions of lives in motion."

What we handle is, centered on the electrical outfitting of the thousands of wires, gauges and control devices running through each car, the interior work that creates a comfortable cabin and the piping that supports the car's functions — the whole craft of making a car run. Railway cars are society's most trusted public infrastructure, carrying many lives every day.

That is why we hold firm to the same three principles we have followed since day one: millimeter-level precision, hands-on craftsmanship passed from veterans to the next generation, and a team culture built on open communication and mutual support.

CAREERS

Join Our Team

Railway work is essential, stable, and rewarding.
Build a career with real skills — at one of our four locations across Japan.

No experience needed.
Your drive is what counts.
We will train you into a skilled professional.

Many of our team members came from entirely different industries. During your first one to two months, a senior colleague will work alongside you, guiding you through each step until the workflow feels natural. You will never be left to figure things out alone.

As a trusted partner to Japan's leading rolling stock manufacturers, we work on Shinkansen bullet trains, limited express trains, public transit vehicles, and more. Once you master these skills, you gain the stability of a profession with lasting demand — and the pride that comes with powering the infrastructure millions depend on.

Why first-timers feel at ease

01
You join a team, not the floor alone

You're never thrown onto the shop floor by yourself. You work as part of an Inanogumi team, with a supervisor always on site — there's always someone to ask.

02
One-on-one guidance from seniors

For your first 1–2 months a senior stays by your side for on-the-job training, teaching you step by step, starting with how to hold a tool. Most of our staff started with no experience.

03
A clear path and steady income

Earn a real trade with our qualification support. Grow from beginner to skilled worker to team leader. Railway work won't disappear — build a long, stable career.

Frequently asked questions

Can I apply with no experience?
Yes. Most of our staff started with no experience. For the first 1–2 months a senior stays with you, so you're never left to work alone.
Do I need qualifications or a specific education?
No — education and qualifications are not required, and junior-high/high-school graduates are welcome. Relevant technician qualifications are a plus, and we have a support program to help you earn them.
I'm not confident in my physical strength — is that OK?
The work centers on detailed manual tasks such as wiring and fitting, not just heavy labor. Much comes down to getting used to it, and women are active here too.
Can I choose my work location?
We're hiring at four bases: Yokohama, Osaka, and Niigata (Akiha / Seiro). Let us know your preference when you apply.
Can I commute by car?
Yes at the Niigata bases (Akiha / Seiro). Yokohama (5 min from Kanazawa-bunko) and Osaka (2 min from Tokuan) are close to stations and easy by public transport.
It snows heavily there — is winter commuting OK?
The Niigata bases support car commuting. We're glad to discuss winter commuting and parking to fit your situation — just ask at the interview.
Are there business trips?
Depending on the base and project, yes. A travel allowance of ¥1,000–9,000 per day is provided.
Can I apply after a career gap?
Absolutely. Many career-changers, second-time new graduates, and people returning after a break are active here.
Are women active in the workplace?
Yes. Women are active here, and we have maternity and childcare leave in place.
What's the process from application to hire?
After you apply via the form (or phone/email), document screening and one or two interviews lead to an offer.

Wanted

We want supportive relationships with fellow manufacturers. If you're facing challenges in your business or on the floor, talk to us first.

When work suddenly dries up

"Lost work all of a sudden," or "stretched too thin." As fellow makers, we'll exchange information and look for solutions together. Count on us as someone to talk to.

Material or staffing worries

"Short on materials," "too many hands." Don't carry it alone — talk to us first, and we'll think through what we can do together.

Succession or limited resources

"No successor," "the company is running out of steam." We'll discuss, in strict confidence, how to keep the business going and where your employees can go.

Taking on employees

We have actively taken on employees from companies forced to close. We'll catch those about to lose their place to work.
